Big-Box Swindle
a Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price film review
The title above is that of a book that came out a year after The High Cost of Low Price that wasn't supposed to be about Wally World specifically, and yet it was because Wally World accounts for such a huge proportion of the problem. Five stars for Greenwald and Brave New Films, especially for the footage from China, Bangladesh, and Honduras; for including not just "liberals" but even conservatives, Republicans, flag-wavers, and former employees from custodians to managers and trainers; and for the happy ending that flows seamlessly from the horror of the part about crime in the parking lots.

My one negative remark is that it seemed too long, and it seemed to start out too slowly, especially with the story about the hardware store.

I watched this film today for the first time. It is true about individuals being accosted in the parking lots. It happened to me in year 2000, 2:00 p.m. I'm a senior, and I had an attempted armed robber try to accost me as I was exiting my car, not far from the garden center. I defended myself, got his license number, he was apprehended in 2 days. I went to court every month from January - July when he finally came before the judge. I addressed the court, told them what happened and they sentenced him to a six year term in prison. I contacted Walmart at that time in Arkansas, and was given the run around that the parking lot was not their responsibility etc. Since that time two more Walmarts have been put up and a Sams club. Had I known of this website, perhaps I would have done more. You did a good job with the film.
